Fostering Government Support for OER Internationally World OER Congress - 21-22 February 2012
OER Africa is attending the OER Policy Forum, which is the second in a series of regional policy forums on OER to be held in all UNESCO regions in the run-up to the World OER Congress in Paris in June 2012. The meeting is taking place on 21-22 February 2012, in the Bamboo Auditorium, Kgorong Building on the UNISA Campus, Muckleneuk Ridge, Pretoria.
Dr Blade Nzimande, the Minister of Higher Education and Training in South Africa and Professor M.S Makhanya, Principal and Vice Chancellor of University of South Africa (UNISA) are hosting the African Regional Open Educational Resources (OER) Forum.
All African countries were invited to the Forum through their UNESCO country delegations.
Objectives of the regional policy forums are to:

intensify dialogue with Governments on OER;

showcase local OER policies, experts and initiatives; and
-
contribute to the drafting of the Paris Declaration.
