Special Needs and Inclusive Education

Those of you who were at the ICET preconference workshop on OER for teacher education in Ghana in July this year might remember that a suggestion was made to set up a special interest group (SIG) on inclusive and special education.

The challenge of reaching groups of children in Africa marginalised through disability and other socio – cultural factors is one of the greatest that we face.

One way of addressing the challenge is  to enable better access to teaching and other support materials suitable for the African context that are useful to African educators, pupils and communities. Distributing, developing and using OERs with this in mind has the potential to make a real impact on the quality of education for these children.

We are now ready to make a start on this and if you are interested then please JOIN.
