Introduction

The African Health OER Network seeks to enable participants to develop, adapt, and share health education resources to augment limited human and other resources in the health sector and impact positively on overall health provision in Africa and beyond. The mission of the Network is to advance health education in Africa by using open educational resources (OER) to share knowledge, address curriculum gaps, and support communities around health education. Our aim is to strengthen the intellectual and policy infrastructure within and between African institutions in order to grow a vibrant Network. Find out more.

If you are just discovering OER, our Network provides an excellent starting point for finding OER, learning about the benefits of sharing, and connecting with the broader community.

View and download learning materials from our vast collection of resources.  We provide links to several other repositories. Or, you can use our request facility to ask for assistance in finding OER for a specific topic.

Mental illnesses are real and have a significant negative social and economic impact on the African society. The World Health Organization’s World Health Report 2001, stated that one in four people in the world will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives.  The Mental Health Information Centre aims to address some of these issues by:

    • being actively involved in the psychoeducation of clinicians and mental health professional; conducting and collaborating research efforts in psychiatry and related fields
    • promoting public awareness of mental health issue; encouraging early diagnosis and treatment of mental illness; and addressing stigma associated with mental illness.
