The KNUST - College of Health Sciences comprises the Faculties of Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Medical Sciences, School of Dentistry, and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in tropical medicine (KCCR). The results of the project will lead to developed tools, content framework, and content resulting in a minimum of five (5) pilot draft OER materials by faculty members; approved policies by College Board, Academic Board and Council; Audited OER materials; Published OERs; Established metric for teaching efficiency; Documented baseline student competencies; and Analysis of collaborative engagement capacity. University of Cape Town - South Africa
UCT Faculty of Health Sciences has 11 departments, falling under five new Schools. Its institutes are typically multi-disciplinary in nature and usually cut across departments; staff from different departments or discipline divisions may conduct research together in the same institute. The results of the project will lead to an audit of existing medical teaching and learning resources and/or tools that could be considered as OER; a list of prioritized materials ready for copyright clearance and/or Creative Commons licences; at least 2 adapted resources that have the appropriate copyright clearance and/or Creative Commons licence; at least 2 new resources have the appropriate copyright clearance and/or Creative Commons licence; a document describing the process undertaken at UCT to be shared with other medical schools in the Health OER partnership in the first instance. University of the Western Cape - South Africa
There are two separate entities within the institution with which are envolved in the project, School of Public Health and Faculty of Dentisty. The results of the project will lead to electronic folder of case studies which are of direct relevance to the SOPH; Five written case studies based on past or ongoing SOPH research projects which match specific teaching activities in MPH and PG Diploma modules; a A DVD with PowerPoint presentations, related videos and digital stills related to Treatment of the Complete Edentulous Patients and Impressions for Fixed Prosthodontics; Objective-structured clinical examination (OSCE) questions, to assess the quality of students’ learning, with regard to the use of dental materials in the clinical context.
