This section provides links African repositories and international repositories to which African Higher Education Institutions may contribute. This collection of OER and open access repositories was collected in relation to our themes, namely, Agriculture, Health, Teacher Education and Foundation Skills. There are also however repositories covering all subjects.
National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is an open and distance learning (ODL) institution. It offers a wide range of courses and downloadable material for educational purposes and a integrated search engine that allows for multiple filters for maximun efficiency
African Virtual University
African Virtual University offers OER's that are linked to specific courses. There are 73 published modules of ICT Integration in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Education, ICT Basic Skills and B.Ed. professional courses available in 3 languages, English, French and Portuguese.
Open Michigan
Open Michigan is an OER offered by the Michigan University and offers a wide variety of courses, images and videos including nursing, midwifery,paediatrics and child care.
Besides these specialized search tools, you can also use Google's advanced search that allows the user to adjust the usage rights field to receive results that include only OER. OER Africa has a search facility that looks specifically at OER generated by African contributors.
OER Commons
OER Commons is a public digital library of open educational resource where educators can explore, create, and collaborate with other educators around the world to improve curriculum.
AgShare
AgShare is a collaboration between existing organizations. It is an alignment initiative to leverage the attention of existing organizations in various domains to create and openly share different types of OER that strengthen MSc agriculture faculty and curriculum and create downstream uses of the OER for other stakeholders. It offers courses,case studies, theses and publications
African Health OER Network
The African Health OER Network seeks to enable participants to develop, adapt, and share health education resources to augment limited human and other resources in the health sector and impact positively on overall health provision in Africa and beyond
African Teacher Education Network
The aim of the African Teacher Education OER Network (ATEN) was about encouraging understanding, use, and sharing of Open Educational Resources (OER) to support teacher education and development in Africa. It contains multiple links to different Educational support materials locally and internationally.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology Open Courseware
MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a permanent MIT activity. It has search tabs where you can look for specific courses or content.
