Tool / Process: Community of Practice (CoP) Planning and Maturity Canvas – adapted from the Communities of Practice Playbook (European Commission, 2021, CC BY 4.0). Leaders use this tool to plan, launch, and monitor professional communities that strengthen teaching and learning development.
Core elements:
- Purpose & Value: clarify the shared challenge or opportunity that the CoP will address.
- People & Roles: identify members, facilitators, champions, and sponsors.
- Activities & Tools: outline engagement formats (forums, mentoring circles, shared resources).
- Sustainability & Recognition: plan how the CoP will remain active (time, resources, incentives).
- Maturity Indicators: assess progression from forming → consolidating → sustaining → scaling.
