This brief paper is about three kinds of knowledge that are important in TVET:

• H ‘Knowing-how’, or procedural knowledge.
• I ‘Knowing-it’, or recognition (also called knowledge by acquaintance).
• T ‘Knowing-that’, or propositional knowledge (also called declarative knowledge).

The spread of the COVID-19 virus and subsequent closure of many universities has severely disrupted academic progress across the globe. To assist lecturers with the implementation of emergency remote teaching (ERT), the Association of African Universities (AAU) and OER Africa is presenting a series of four webinars on ERT strategies. This presentation covers content for Webinar 4.

This programme consists of 2 modules of 10 credits.  The title of module 1 is “Coaching, Mentoring and Communities of Practice”.  Essential skills for subject leaders such as observing, giving constructive feedback and coaching and mentoring are introduced and practiced.  Module 2 is called “Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) in STEM Education”.  In this module, you will engage with a wide range of aspects of technological pedagogical content knowledge for STEM.  Through examples and exercises, you will learn how to apply the various concepts and methods in your lesson

In this topic you will be trained on the basics practices of Teaching ICT in classroom. The students will practice teaching in classroom by applying ICT teaching methods and application of modern media and technology. The students will be accessed with sample video of microteaching. The students will also be required to prepare micro teaching presentation, materials and lastly there will be assessment and evaluation of each student microteaching.

In this topic the students will be introduced to the basic principles of assessment and evaluation in ICT.

In this topic the students will learn to describe the challenges and solutions for teaching ICT in special cases, such as the structure of the classroom, number of students, learners with special needs and insufficient IT equipment.  It is important for teachers to apply effective ways in overcoming these shortcomings.
