SECTION 1: Kamuzu College of Nursing Introduction to Core Resources
Midwives play a central role in the management of pregnant mothers and their families. You as a student midwife you should be knowledgeable of all aspects of pregnancy in order to provide individualised quality care.

This package is designed to promote problem based learning through active, participatory methods and principles. It aims to increase the awareness, knowledge, skills and attitudes of student midwives through inter-professional collaboration, group work and plenary sessions. The material contained in this package is arranged in section form, specifically for competencies for the management of uncomplicated pregnancy. The content (the specific section selected for any care) and duration of the care/procedure will be determined by the period of practice, the commitment of the student and the skills of the facilitators. In general, it is envisaged that the experience will be offered over four weeks and will be directed primarily at student midwives.
